Educator | Career Pivot Strategist
I’m passionate about helping people learn, grow and become more confident in what they can achieve.
For me, teaching is about more than simply getting the right answer. I want students to understand what they are learning, feel comfortable asking questions and develop the confidence to keep going when something feels challenging. Seeing a student make progress — whether that's mastering a new skill, finding their voice in their writing or suddenly understanding something that didn't make sense before — is what makes teaching so rewarding for me.
I also love learning myself. I believe curiosity and a willingness to learn are essential life skills, and something we never really stop doing.
Teaching Experience
I have worked in education for more than a decade, teaching across primary and secondary settings in Australia and the UK.
My teaching career began in music, where I taught students from Kindergarten through to Year 12.
I have worked across a range of schools in Perth, Melbourne and the UK, teaching music, directing choirs and ensembles, accompanying students on piano and supporting students through assessments and performances.
I also held the position of Acting Head of Arts at St Mark’s Anglican Community School.
Alongside classroom teaching, I have experience supporting students with different learning needs and approaches.
I aim to create lessons that are supportive, engaging and adapted to the individual learner.
Qualifications
I hold a Master’s in Educational Leadership from Edith Cowan University and a Post Graduate Certificate in Education from Liverpool Hope University in England.
I also hold a Bachelor of Music from the University of Manchester, a Level 5 TEFL qualification, and a Certificate IV in Training and Assessment. I have also personally prepared for and taken the IELTS, giving me first-hand experience of the skills and demands involved in the test.
I am a registered teacher in Western Australia and hold a current Working with Children Check (WA).
My career has also taken me beyond the classroom. I moved into recruitment and talent acquisition, working with organisations across healthcare, engineering and other professional environments.
I have recruited for roles ranging from entry-level through to executive positions and have supported people with their career development and professional growth.
That experience now forms an important part of my work through Built to Pivot, where I help people think about their career direction, identify their strengths and take their next steps with confidence
My Approach
Every learner is different.
Some students need extra time and repetition.
Others need to be challenged or given the space to explore an idea in their own way.
My role is to understand the learner in front of me and adapt the lesson accordingly.
I want students to leave a lesson feeling that they have achieved something — and, ideally, feeling a little more confident than when they started.
Lessons are delivered online via Zoom, allowing students and adults to learn from wherever they are.
Years 1–12 | Adults welcome | Online via Zoom
I have experience working with neurodivergent learners and understand that every student learns differently.
My approach is flexible and focuses on understanding each learner’s individual strengths, needs and learning style.
I have experience supporting learners with:
ADHD
Dyslexia
Dysgraphia
Autism / Autistic learners
I aim to create a supportive and encouraging learning environment where students feel comfortable asking questions, making mistakes and building confidence.
Lessons can be adapted to suit the learner, with different strategies, explanations and activities used to help them engage with the material and make progress.
